Hi again my friends and fellow scrappers and crafters! I'm pretty excited to share this week weekly sketch at Let's Scrap and it is about sunburst! It looks tricky and tedious but not! I have made my sunburst by using some remnants, sew them neatly on the templates and ta-da...here's my sunburst layout...

I didn't think twice soon after I saw the sketch. I knew it's perfect for the landscape and nature photographs I have - they are special gift from my German pen friend Christiane Hansel who is the photographer. She travelled to Chile and Argentina in 2006 and captured beautiful nature! I knew the sunburst sketch by Cheri O'Neill will outshine the photos.

I love this font "Root" and think it's perfect to depict the entire scenario of this layout.

Moments Of Glory

The moment finally arrived! It was the annual sports day at my children's school last Thursday 

(June 28th) and the moment my children and I had been patiently waiting all the while. I promised my children I will attend the event because last year I didn't (busy mom, what to do?!). My daughters especially 'Alyaa who is the school athelete since last year has been training for months and months. Besides running event representing her school, she is also a member of her school netball team. There's not a single moment she doesn't talk about sports...every minute, every second, at breakfast, during lunch, in the car on the way to school, back home, before bed time...her sports talk has become the musical tune in my ears!

I belief in my daughter's ability in sports. I know she can finish the race with medals so on the real day, I said to her, "Give me GOLD!" She was like, "...yeah...yeah...". This year is her finale year at primary school and it will be her finale track event. The main reason I was there for her is to capture her through my lens. She said, "Fine." But I noticed her embarrasement at some point when I started taking pictures...teeheehee...Do I care? Nahhhh... I had intended to scrap herself, her medals (I knew she will get them), the opening ceremony, prize giving, the crowd, all well planned in my head but when I begun to select for photos to scrap, I realised one thing, that I didn't snap her running! I felt stupid! Hmm, at least I have one long shot of her standing by to grab the batton from her teammate...hmmm...

The sketch this week by Cheri O'Neill at Let's Scrap seems perfect for this layout. I have started liking banners and enjoy making them with lots of patience of course :)

I am not very happy with my photographs yet this is the best I can give my girl.

The last shot snapped before we go home. 'Alyaa was too tired to smile for the camera...oh well, but I can understand her being so exhausted after running around the field over and over again. I am so proud of her for giving me 2 golds and she can keep the 3 silvers =D

Sweet Smile

Another beautiful day my end and wish you are having a great one too. The kids' Daddy bought a box of ice cream with 3 in 1 flavour yesterday...suddenly I remember a layout I did in May and haven't posted to my blog yet, hmm. What's the connection between the ice-cream and this particular layout? The layout features a cone of ice cream :) What makes this layout special to me is the priceless photos my daughter 'Alyaa scribbled on and eventually I decided to scrap it! The sketch for the layout contains hexagon that has become a trend lately which I love making them myself. Cheryl O'Neill designed the sketch for her own challenge during the Inter[National] Scrapbooking Month in May. I loved her sketch and go for it!

I used scraps to make the hexagons based on a template below. Thanks Michelle Van Wyk for the template.

I'm not a big fan of green shades but lately I seem to use green

for my layouts and prefer black matting most of the time.

Journalling...my favorite part!

Well, here is the main photo 'Alyaa scribbled when she was young.

It takes lots of decision making to make this layout. I completed the right page one weekend and waiting for the giant photo to be developed by the photo shop since my photo printer can only print 4x6 photos. These photographs are from 2001 when my 'Alyaa was a year older. I had the giant photo developed in the same year from a free coupon but 'Alyaa has "scribbled" her face!!
I wanted to scan another copy for this layout but like I said, the photo shop can't do it because their machine break down so I took back my 4x6 original photo from them and said to myself, "Come on Asmah, don't just scrap beauty but scrap the reality that lies beneath!" ...nah, the "scribbled" face doesn't matter no more; that's 'Alyaa's "handwriting" :) To be honest, I just had to fight against "my perfectionist" as I did the left page :) Nevertheless I love this layout very much!

Joyful {A Father's Unconditional Love}

Hi there! Did you have a great weekend? I sure did, well, spent a lot of time reading and cleaning the house (as always). I also look through some photographs for my upcoming scrapping projects and am working on three layouts at the moment. Today, I would like to share my old assignment from last month...ooopsie...only now I manage to feature this layout....they say save the best for last eh!
As one of the Design Team members at Let's Scrap one of the tasks I must do is to host a
DT Challenge. I picked June 1st for my challenge that last for two weeks. My challenge was:

Rule 1: Select only 3 items from the 6 items listed in the list below
Rule 2: Incorporate the 3 items on your layout
Rule 3: Must use only Let’s Scrap sketch
Rule 4: Can make single page layout or double page layout

The List:

1. Flowers
2. Buttons / Brads / Bling / Rhinestone
3. Lace / Ribbons / Strings / Floss
4. Butterflies / Dragonflies / Beatles
5. Paper clips / Wooden-pegs / Staples
6. Chipboards

 NOTE: You may design your layout to your heart content; you can use punches/die cuts/art/tons of photos/etc but you must have 3 items chosen from the list. For example:-If you pick #1 - you can either have one flower or cluster of flowers and they’re counted as 1 item.If you pick #2 – you can only choose one stuff (let’s say you choose brads, you can’t use the rest listed in #2).
REMEMBER the main rule is ONLY 3 STUFFS…..NO MORE…..NO LESS!!!

My Zen Garden and Baby Nettie Flower Tutorial

Aaahh, been busy the entire week and oh my, June is saying good-bye...time sure flies! Many events took place throughout the month and I am pleased to say I have completed some missions even though I fail some of the listed things to do; aaahhh, can postpone to July! Anyway, today I would like to present a layout of my daughter's zen garden. Woo hoo, sounds cool huh!

This ultimate layout is carefully designed for my tutorial assignment at Let's Scrap on June 22. I have created my flower named Baby Nettie. Here's the layout...

This layout is an interpretation from a double pages sketch by Cheri O'Neil. I used the left page for my layout.

The fun part is decorating the matting with flower sequins although it's pretty time consuming but it gives me a chance to relax my mind and 'create' my upcoming layout!

Little Gymnast in the House

I did this layout for the weekly challenge at Let's Scrap last July 6. Phew, only today I manage to post it here, man, that shows how busy I've been since mid-year! Anyway, talking about this layout I'm featuring today, it's about my little gymnast, nah, she's not a gymnast, just playing around before bed time. 'Alyaa was about a year older then (the year was 2001). Having a flexible body allows her to bend downwards; oh my, that doesn't hurt for a young person I guess. I don't think I can do that anymore. All you hear is crunchy sounds if I do so :) 



This double pages is based on a sketch by Cheri O'Neil, again another fantastic design! I like the banner hanging over the top.

I printed the title and cut them out. I admit I'm a big fan of fancy fonts =D
