Sending Prayers @ MHKDesigns

{My DT work for MHKDesigns}

Hello friends! It's so wonderful to get back to blogging again after a hectic schedule the past weeks. I can't exactly remember what kept me busy after simple birthday celebration on the ninth day with my loved ones but life was crazy busy for sure I felt like walking dead at times, lol. Anyway, I did deep cleaning in the one busy week and sewing dress afterwards. The one big plan of all plans I never ever able to get to is gardening and re-potting because of continuous water droplets from the sky. Hardly do we ever get sunshine straight in a week since August and according to the weather forecast the rain will continue until November. Save the water bill but bless the dancing weeds eh.

Enough chat so let me now take you to my simple watercolor art journal I did as part of  my design team work for MHKDesigns. It's my turn to day to share my designer inspiration with you and hopefully you would spare a moment to use watercolors over digital images in your project.
 This project is a junk journal made up from one shopping paper bag. I shall have a tutorial coming up on this project soon and will let you know when it is ready to share with my readers.
So far I have filled up three pages already. This used digital stamp set entitle Get Well Flowers that is available at MHKDesigns etsy store
 The background has a thin layer of homemade texture paste made from pva glue mixed with water and baby talcum powder that gives lovely scent on the page. I applied the texture through a stencil to get some random diamond shape.
Towards the end of the mess that dried up, I sprinkle white paint for additional interest. This has become a habit I must say {smile}.

I'm taking my project in these challenges:
1. Mix It Up : Anything Goes
2. Craft For The Craic : Autumnal Colored
3. Crafting With Friends : Anything Goes

That's a wrap for today. I shall have more posts lining up beginning October 1st so do visit me again. Thank you for dropping by and have a good rest.

Hugs and smiles,

Loving Life @ DS4J

{My DT work for DS4J}

Hello and welcome to my blog on this beautiful Sunday. It's the last day of school break and my children return to school tomorrow and this third semester will be a hectic for each of them having lot of revision to do for final exams some time in October. They keep me wrapped up on that matter for sure besides being their 'cab driver' all day round. I am always on the run five days a week juggling mostly between routine schedules and my desire in artwork. Nevertheless I always look forward to weekend when I can at least rest my feet against the wall while my eyes read magazines as I lay down for a short rest.

Enough mom's blab {smile}. Let me now take you to Digistamps4Joy new releases at the shop today. Meanwhile take a peek at DS4J blog to view some wonderful creations my team-B-mates have created using the new releases.

I made two projects and here's a set of ATCs using Mandala 5 drawn by Delyth. I hardly use vibrant colors in my creation so I must say this is happy bold colors I chose to brighten up the grey weather we are having the past month up to now due to constant rain without warning and not fast enough to save my laundry under the patio at times {lol} and also hopefully my bright ATCs will cheer your life this September.
 And here a few close up pictures:
I printed some mandalas on a piece of 130gsm acid free drawing paper and fussy cut to stick on the finished background.
The quotes are from internet.
You may spot lines of fiber in the background. It's actually a piece of fine lace I bought from haberdashery a while back.
Next up is an art journal using a colored digistamp named Springbok drawn by the artist, Lyndall herself, This is my first time using colored digistamp from DS4J ever since I joined the team four years ago. It's a record, lol. I have always preferred black and white digistamps that allow me more choices and flexibility in creating but however when Margy gave us the colored version, I knew it saved me time from coloring this beauty and just focus on the background.
 Some close up pictures:
 I have two more pages left in the art journal book to finish up and created this one using combination of gesso and white watercolor paint to cover up the text in the pages. The pattern is made by using modeling paste through a stencil and let dry. Then I used two different blues and yellow watercolor paints to highlight the patterns by spritzing waters and let them run here and there until I feel satisfied.
 The deer was carefully cut out with scissor so I won't cut off the legs, yes it's very delicate.
I wish to play along in these challenges:
1. Art Journal Journey : Color In My World
2. Crafty Girls Creations : Ch#39 Anything Goes
3. Crafty Animals : Ch#6 Anything Goes (Must Have Animals)
4. Love To Scrap : Ch#101 Anything Goes

And that's a wrap from me. I sincerely hope you find my creations interesting and may inspire you to make a project or two this week. While you are it, we hope you will join us in the monthly challenge this month. The theme is always Anything Goes and there's a twist if you wish to play along that is warm colors. Sounds great eh? See you at Mr. Linky before September 30.

Thank you for dropping by and have a great week.

Mixed Media Tag @ MHKDesigns

{My DT work for MHKDesigns}

Happy September! Welcome to another monthly challenge at MHKDesigns.
We bring you fabulous digistamp vintages images in our creations to give you some inspirations. Take a peek here to see what my fellow design teammates have made using MHKDesigns digistamps that are obtainable at the store.

I made a tag using combination of some mixed media elements in the background and highlighting the flowers with contrasting colors from the shades of brown.
 For this project, I used two digistamp sets, Birdcage Silhouettes and Get Well Flowers.

 I printed some flowers and fussy cut to adhere on my the background with pva glue. I like using this glue a lot in all my projects.
 I glued down a piece of gauze when I started the process to create pattern and texture as well. Then I applied modeling paste through a stencil as always.
 I used Faber Castell black watercolor pencil to outline the edges of the flowers and sentiment before I blend with water using aqua brush. This way I try my best to cover the fussy cut edges so they don't look so obvious to the eyes.
 I should have taken a picture of the actual completed tag without the drip and splash of white paint. So just imagine that the background was in shades of brown and a bit of black here and there. I was not satisfied after reaching its completion and need to whiten it so it doesn't look dark. The twist of additional white watercolor paint pleased me very much.
 The challenge ends at the end of this month with a photo inspiration but if you use products from the MHKDesigns store, you can link up ANYTHING!
What do you think of this photo inspiration?
I wish to play along in these challenges:
1. Mix It Up : Ch#5 Anything Goes w/ optional twist In-Laid Die Cut
2. 613 Avenue : Ch#201 Atg w/ optional twist Distress It

That's a wrap. I look forward to see your participation in this month's challenge
at Mr. LinkyUntil then, wish you a happy September and
thank you for dropping by.

Hugs and smiles,
