Finale Moment @ Scrap Africa

{My DT work for Scrap Africa}

Hello everyone and a happy February!
I am so happy to walk in to a new month yet writing this post is not easy. Saying good bye is never easy, isn't it? Nevertheless, today the moment has arrived to say that Scrap Africa is coming to end soon. With heavy heart Denise van Deventer will lock the challenge door at the end of this month which has been great inspirations to many I am sure.

If you wish to participate for the last time, here is your chance to play along with us. We have great prizes for you if you win the design team's votes.

Let's see what inspire you in this finale mood board:
Some close-up pictures:
 I used texture paste through a stencil to create the background pattern.
 Layers.and lots of layers...
...and distressing are some of my favorite things {smile}.
Some stamped leaves were fussy cut and punched ones tucked underneath my handmade fabric flowers and paper spiral rose.
Come along and play with us for the last time.
Link up your creation/s here. I look forward to see you there.

I hope you like my creation for today and may it gives you some inspirations.
Till then. Have a good day.

Hugs and smiles,

Believe To Achieve {Tags} @ Scrap Africa

{My DT work for Scrap Africa}

☺❤Hi everyone! Welcome to December❤☺
As you are reading my post for today, my children and I are enjoying the school holidays with my Mother at her home. We arrived on Saturday morning after some seven hours bus ride from my home. It's great to be back at my hometown here in the southern peninsula where I grew up and attained my kindergarten to elementary to high school education. The only person I miss so much being home is my late father. So many fond memories every time I am home.

Aaah,enough melancholic. Today at Scrap Africa, we have a new mood board challenge.
I absolutely in love with the colors in the board because red...I repeat...red is my favorite color {smile}
Here are my tags:
Based on this awesome mood board:
I am so much looking forward to see your creations at Scrap Africa this entire month.
Enjoy your 31 days of 2016 and wish you great times.

Until I see you again soon.
Take care.

Permaidani {Layout} @ Scrap Africa

{My DT work for Scrap Africa}

Happy Sunday and sending you good vibes this November! Firstly, I would like to welcome my new friends to the blog: The Nickel Nook, Zuzka Cedulova and Barlie Kenny. Thank you so much for following my blog ladies.

Without further ado, here's my newest scrapbook page made as part of my design team work for Scrap Africa new sketch challenge this month.
We have beautiful Lydie Denis also known as Lilibleu as a our Guest Designer.
Come visit Scrap Africa and be inspired by my fellow teammates' gorgeous creations.

This is a page of a floating mosque my family and I visited some two years ago in Penang Island and spent a few moment for prayer and photography session
{as always wherever I am, smile}.
It is named Masjid Terapung {Floating Mosque} built on the bay in Tanjung Bungah, Penang Island. I loved the reflection and captured its beauty through my lens.This photo was printed two years ago but only now I scrap it waiting for the right sketch!!
Well here's the hexagon sketch by Denise. Pretty eh?
Some close-up pics:
The flowers and leaves are punched from cardstocks using my two favorite old Carla Craft punches and Jeff punch.
I used modeling paste through STAMPlorations stained glass stencil to create patterns randomly over light gesso sponged up on the page earlier on.
The butterfly is a freebie, printed and cut out. I chopped off the antenna and replaced with a white wire. I love to decor my butterflies now a days {smile}. You can even see the pva glue used to stick it underneath the butterfly; it takes a while to dry and adhered strongly after dried. I always use pva glue in all my projects because of the special strong bond between the subject and the foundation; they don't come apart after completely dried.
The beads sit nicely in the flower center. They are actually left overs from my bead work project I did recently.
I also added some drywall tape, black thread and cheesecloth before I glue down the focal point, paper flowers and leaves.
The sentiment is from a chorus from a song entitle Permaidani by local artist; typed and printed.
The hexagons were cut out the old school way from a template which is kept in the file for so long. Always come handy when need be. I gave them a coat of gesso and used STAMPlorations crisscrossed stencil to form pretty cool patterns using modeling paste.
 Lastly as you can tell, I started stamping randomly and playing up with watercolors, let them run here and there until I was satisfied. The end process was splattering white paint and I was done.
I hope you get some inspirations from my design this time. I look forward to see your creation/s at Scrap Africa this month. You have one month long to take part and stand a chance to win fabulous prize.

Until then. See you again soon and take care.
Hugs and smiles,

Believe @ Scrap Africa

{My DT work for Scrap Africa}

Happy October!
I am sharing my new scrapbook page for a new mood board challenge at Scrap Africa.
You have one month long to join the challenge but try not to put off things until tomorrow and stay out of stress {smile}.
I find the winter wonderland colors are just so amazing I ended splashing up with blue in the end when the starting point was grey.
Here is the mood board.
Isn't that gorgeous? Living near the equatorial zone, I can only visualize how beautiful and interesting the winter atmosphere is. That is why I got carried away with the blues, lol.
I once again have to make confession that glitter is not my favorite but at times she does get my attention. For this project, I searched high and low for embossed powder but I have no idea where I place them, sigh. Obviously the glitter came to rescue...smile.
  Some glittery on Bazzill flower chippies.
I believe I can make a winter wonderland project hence the title and sentiment.
Hope you feel the same way too!

Have a pleasant week and stay happy.
Until I see you again tomorrow, stay happy.

Hugs and smiles,
Asmah

Happy Times @ Scrap Africa

{My DT work for Scrap Africa}

Hey everyone! I'm so thrilled because September is here!! Yayy!! It's my favorite month of the year! A month where I get the chance to celebrate me, me and just me {lol}. Me counting days...eight days more to go and tah-dah...me turning another year older {chuckle}. So yes, me counting days excitedly. Okay, enough blab. Until that day comes, it's me here inviting you all to another sketch challenge at Scrap Africa.

Take a look at this fabulous scrapbook pages and cards designs by Guest Designers and Scrap Africa Design Team.
This is my layout of my youngest daughter when she was 5yo. I had the photos printed in 4x6 size some three years ago but often procrastinating from scrapping because at certain point I lost mojo making double pages with 4x6 photos that particular year. As you can see here, I crop the photos in circle using a punch and distress the edges. So glad finally I used the photos for this project.
    I took a break from mixed media and played with my sewing machine to sew the edges; something I love doing when I make shabby chic design. I tried to stay close to the sketch by layering three circle patterned papers.
Here are some up-close photos:
 I punched the borders with MS punch, distressed with Ranger's ink pad and crumpled them up.
 I loved the little rose from Prima, the pink flower came from Daiso and the blue one from Kinokuniya book shop that always bring in lovely creation from Japan.
If you have been my regular visitor, you may have noticed how much I love using my old Carla Craft leaf punch and adorn the page with layers and layers of distressed punched leaves.
 The lace has been in my stash for some time which I cut out from my youngest daughter's old gown so there's a keepsake to remember {smile}.
That's it for today. Don't forget guys, you have one month long to create any paper project based on the sketch but be sure not to wait until the last minute {smile}. Well, I'm so glad you stop by and I hope to return the favor.
Have a good week ahead and all the best in September.

Hugs and smiles,

LOVE brings you HOME @ Scrap Africa

{My DT work for Scrap Africa}

Hi everyone and here's wishing you a glorious August. I'm back again with newest layout. I can't exactly remember when was the last time I scrap; I think it was early June. Time pass by so quickly and we are living in August already?! So what did I do in July besides fasting in Ramadan and celebrating Eid afterwards that is coming to its end this week and also fighting eczema; yes, I did a lot of sewing and decorating the house. So I would say July was dedicated to spring cleaning and home decorating. It's a never ending process however. I keep changing things around the house. Do you?  Maybe I should do a blog post about home decorating. What d'ya think? Suggestions are welcome {smile}

Enough blab, lol. Here's another scrapbook page for my youngest child. She's always thrill every time I make her one even though she question, "Me again? Why not them?" referring to her big sisters and brother {chuckle}.
This month challenge at Scrap Africa is based on this mood board.
Pretty huh? I like the color combination between blue and purple. I simply focused on these two colors on my page. We would love to see your creativity here using this mood board before the month ends.

Here are some close- up pictures:
I used many scrap papers for layers from previous projects. Papers are so expensive and I can't bear throwing the tiny bits...
 My all time favorite Carla-Craft leaf punch used to punch some leaves and colored.

 The beads from my bead work and will soon sew beads and sequins on my eldest's dress that is in the making.
{hope to finish a.s.a.p because we will visit her at boarding school this Saturday being a meeting session between parents and teachers on report card day respectively to discuss about her academic progress and mid-year examination results she had recently...sounds no fun to any pupil I bet, lol}.
 I love distress ripping off the burlap for additional interest; something that drives me nuts if that happens while sewing {bahaha}.
 The more layers the merrier, think I've said that many times before.
Overall, I didn't use many elements to decorate my page this time; just some flowers and butterflies to adorn the page with some beads, gems and buttons. I wanted to highlight the layers more with watercolors and gesso afterwards.
I used this lovely sketch from Creative Club to kick start my page:
Until I see you again soon. Have a great time living life and take care.

Hugs and smiles,
