Explore The Unknown @ STAMPlorations

{My DT work for STAMPlorations}

Hi! Firstly I would like to say a big HI to my new friends, Nadya Drozdova and Marina Berezova. Thank you ladies for following my blog.
How's your weekend everyone? Mine has been good, enjoying the cool breeze and did a little bit of gardening each morning or at least try to or else the weeds will spread further with pride to defeat the green grass that sprawls beautifully on the lawn day by day. With rain without warning I prefer doing my garden in the morning unless the sky spills its water. My afternoon and evening is mostly spent indoor. On weekdays my routine differ for sure or in better term I can hardly breath sometimes {lol}.

And so the first Sunday of the month {time sure flies!} means a new mixed media challenge at STAMPlorations. Click here to see my fellow teammates's gorgeous designs with hope you may get some inspirations to start making your mixed media projects and submit to us.

I would love to share a mixed media project I did on canvas. The splash of colors took an evening because I kept changing colors. First I started with earth colors but realized it didn't fit. I changed to vermilion red mixed with orange then I finished off by splattering white paints. A failure! Almost a disaster! I left the table, made hot chocolate, had bun, join my son watched tv and faced the canvas again. I wanted something scintillate; something glimmer, something that pop! I stared at all the paints I have and eventually picked two shades of blue and gold!
That's it! Obviously this canvas has many layers and depth of different colors {smile}.
More close-ups:
I used texture paste through pebble waves stencil to make the design.
 The canvas was adhered with tissue paper in the first place, gave it a layer of gesso and let dry. As I go along, I decided to ads some mesh and drywall tape in the center part for additional texture and dimension. For this design below, I used delicate links stencil with texture paste.
 To create the title, I used bold sentiments - explore with Versafine onyx black ink pad. Then I colored it up with white gel pen.
Lastly I splatter white paint. Looking twice, this canvas looks like galaxy. What say you?

Well I hope you like my artwork this time and looking forward to see your mixed media creations at STAMPlorations September Mixed Media Challenge  before end of this month. No cards however and please display this graphic below on your blog post.
That's all for today. Thank you for visiting me and hope you have a great week ahead.

Hugs and smiles,

Canvas Artwork @ TTCRD

Hi everyone! Here's sharing my DT project for Through The Craft Room Door newest challenge for this week. Same theme as always Anything Goes.
The design team has come out with lots of awesomeness using beautiful images sponsored by Pickled Potpourri. Click here to take you to TTCRD weekly challenge.

Once again I created a less is more canvas as I am very much into canvas work to kick start the year and play with paints and mixed media stuff.
I want my canvas to be simple without layers and cluster for a change. Not my style but less is more can be more stylish I think. So I only added stencil work for interest.

I printed the images entitle Hearts and Flowers sponsored by Pickled Potpourri on tissue paper, cut them out and adhered directly on the canvas with clear sealer and let dry. Then I colored the hearts with similar acrylic colors.
The sentiment used is part of a song lyric by local band Akim & The Magistrate. Here's the video clip by the way:
The song simply inspired me to create and keep creating {smile}. Having said that, I hope you like my art piece this time and I look forward to see your make at TTCRD before time runs...send in your Anything Goes entries by 12 January 2015.

Challenges I wish to enter:
1. Where The HeART Is : Challenge 5 ATG
2. Our Crafty Corner : ATG

Have a good day and take care.
Hugs and smiles,

Create Your Destiny Without Fear @ STAMPlorations

Hi everyone! Wishing you a blessed and wonderful 2016 with good health and prosperity. I started the new year preparing for the new school term commencing today. That's right...it's the return of school where I live while other states in Malaysia starts tomorrow. The children and I were away vacationing for five weeks, hence my silence from blog land. Holidays over and play time done so it's back to higher thinking level to my children and behind them is their mother who will screw them up from time to time {chuckle}.
 Today I am back with fresh mind but unfortunately the flu bug came from nowhere and hit me so bad. Breathing is difficult when one nostril is runny and blocked. I hope to feel better soon.

On a cheerful note, here's bringing you my newest artwork to kick start the year designed for STAMPlorations.
Click here and have a see at the wonderful mixed media projects by my fellow teammates.

This is my less is more canvas artwork sandwich with paper strips, gesso and and modeling paste for simple texture.

I created a homemade canvas from chipboard and added layers of paper strips. Then gesso-ed the surface with two coats and let dry naturally. I used acrylic paints and blended four to five colors for the background and let dry once again.
 I used modeling paste through Tribal Triangles ARTplorations stencil to create patterns randomly and highlighting them with some coordinated colors. I also used STAMPlorations stamp set BOLD SENTIMENTS - Create for the sentiment.
Next I stamped three butterflies namely Blossom Like A Butterfly on cardstock, cut them out, colored them with different shades of color pencils and adhered them on the canvas.
Are you all set for 2016 challenges?
The STAMPlorations January Mixed Media Challenge is waiting for your entries!
Link up your work here by January 31.

Heading over to these challenges:
1. Crafty Calendar : Something New {using new acrylic paints and canvas}

Dreams {Finnabair: Sparkle & Shine}

Hi everyone! I am not feeling good these days probably due to the extreme hot and humid climate since the arising of the New Year. That however doesn't stop me from creating. I took a moment to make this canvas work I've been meaning to work on for so long. When I saw Finnabair: Sparkle & Shine blog hop and challenge a couple of weeks ago, I thought this would be an opportunity to step out of my comfort zone because I am not really a sparkle and shine kind of person. Believe me, I don't even wear my gold and diamond wedding ring!

 I set to work yesterday evening and considering this is my first canvas work for my sister's birthday present, I hoped all goes smoothly because time was running. I had intended to make a layout but changed my mind because I would like her to place it on her desk at work because she spends all day long there and only comes home to sleep {chuckle}.
Supplies: canvas, acrylic gesso, acrylic modeling paste, gauze, lace, handmade flowers, seed beads, flower charms, rhinestones, faux pearls, Tattered Angel Glimmer Mist, Tim Holtz distress ink, Brilliance ink pad, Carla Craft leaf punch, water color, gold paint,

  As the process took off step by step, I wasn't sure what I was doing! I do not have many of the products the dt ladies used {I mainly used some of the things in my stash}. I swear I visited their blog many times to oohhh-ing and aahhh-ing their stunning work to get some inspirations.

The creations by Finnnabair's design team are so gorgeous and very inspiring:
 Some up close photos:
That is my sister Lili in her early 20's during a cultural show at Universiti Malaya where she studied geology yet active in the culture society in campus. She had no idea I stole and crop her photo that being kept in a dark box for years. I figured it would be more appropriate to display her charming smile on a canvas so she can look at it while working and reminisce the old times once in a while {smile} without distracting her too much from working that is {hihi}. I decided to leave the white space around the photo to let the eyes rest and admire the 'dancer' for a while {lol}. Well, I really hope she will like it!

Thank you for dropping by. I am so glad to have your visit and until then, may all your dreams come true.

Hugs and smiles,
