The joy is in the journey... {TTCRD Challenge April 28 - May 4)

{My DT work for TTCRD}

Hello my friends! It is my pleasure to welcome a new friend to my blog. Today I am honored to welcome Darnell Knauss who is my newest follower but on top of that she is a wonderful person even though I only know her via blogging and used to drop by her Playhouse many times enjoying her gorgeous cards and enthralling posts to read; ending up with smiles and laughter {thanks Darnell for making someone's day bright!}.

On to my next talk is this art journal made for Through The Craft Room Door as part of my DT work. We are having a fortnight challenge beginning today so you have plenty of time to create; what's interesting is the  fact that we always offer Anything Goes theme. I look forward to see your creativity juices flowing at Mr Linky entry.
I used variety of products to create this piece of artwork. You can read more of the supply list I used in the upcoming TTCRD magazine issued in May.
As usual I wish to take my creation into these challenges:
1. ARTastic : Use Swirls
2. Incy Wincy Designs : Springs/Greens
3. Love To Scrap! : ATG
3. Addicted-To-Stamps : Flowers
4. Path of Positivity : Growth
{it's always interesting to see flowers bloom in my garden and even though the climate doesn't permit me to grow iris on my lawn, I let them grow on my art journal and allow me to develop my interest in art}

Thank you for coming by to visit me and my heartfelt thanks to you if you have taken the time to leave me a comment and if you join as follower. I will always do my best to return the favor.  Till the morning after. Have great moments.

Hugs and smiles,

You Fall...You Rise! ~TTCRD Magazine May/June Issue~

Hi everyone! I feel much better today after feeling low over the weekend but that didn't stop me from throwing paints {always loving it}. Without further ado, here's bringing you my newest art journal page designed as part of my dt work for Through The Craft Room Door upcoming magazine that will be released early May.

The team has worked long and hard to bring you lots of creative tutorials, articles and inspiration cards to share with you this edition. Take a peek at Subscription/Renewal if you wish to get your first copy.

I spent several days to complete this artwork. It started with blank white space and half page was filled up with black and white and the other were rainbow colors at first but that didn't satisfy me. So I left it for a couple of days and made some cards instead. Mojo came back so I wanted to continue to finish it altogether but something went wrong again. I wasn't pleased with the background, sigh. So I went to bed that night and sleep tight. Eventually some hours ago I decided to tackle this piece once again and for an unknown reason, the rainbow turns into steampunk colors {LOL}. I don't know how that happen but I love it 200% {teeheehee}!
Some up-close shots:
Off I go now into these challenges:
1. STAMPlorations : April Challenge ~ Stamps & Numbers
2. That Craft Place : No Cards
3. Scribble and Scrap : Always Anything Goes
4. 2 Creative Chicks : Anything Goes (No Cards)
5. Sisters of Craft : Anything Goes
6. Sugar and Betty : ATG or Layers

You can check out further details of my artwork in the new TTCRD Magazine to be released soon. Until then, thanks for dropping by and will do my best to return the favor.

Birthday Wishes ~ A "CAS" Card

Hi everyone! Wish all of you good day and all is well. I am under the weather at the moment but feel bored when I'm not crafting at all so I pull out my stash and tried my hands at clean and simple card for a change to fill the time.

For this card, my intention was to make a one layer mixed media card but that was very tough because I have to have layers. My concept of creation has always been the more the merrier, the bulky the better, heavy duty texture {hehe} and must have splatter of inks and paints. But today I leave all that and opt for CAS {smile}.

What do you think of this CAS card? Would love to hear your opinion...
So anyway, I wanted this to be very simple. I used Francheville kraft paper for my background to suit the flower theme and stamped the flowers for the center part. I decided not to use watercolors but combination of Tsukineko Brilliance Dew Drop and Versafine ink pads to color the stamped flower from Kaisercraft using paint brush and water.
I simply did pointillism around the edges with black gel pen and stamped the two sides of the card for interest.

I'm not quite sure if I am happy and satisfied with my attempt at making this card. I believe this is probably my third attempt in four months trying my hands at CAS card but seldom turns out the way I want, lol. I will not give up and try again next time in my quest to make just one layer mixed media card...we'll see :)

I thought I would take my simple creation into these challenges:
1. The Mixed Media Card : Flowers
2. Cardabilities : Sketch #121
 3. Free-Works : Any work with kraft paper
Thank you for dropping by my blog today. I appreciate your time visiting me today. Until then. Take care and have a nice day.

Don't just live... {Digistamps4Joy Mid-Challenge#111 Reminder} & Mixed Media Background Tutorial

Hello crafters! I'm back with my latest card creation designed for Digistamps4Joy. This is mid-challenge reminder and do take part for a chance to win awesome prize from the store owner Margaret Kieser. A half month to go before the challenge is over this 30th day but if you take your sweet time, you will miss it for sure. Isn't that's always the case?

I made a mixed-media card this time. Try as I may I just can't bring myself to do crafty things and not just take pictures so I am also here to share a tutorial with you all. Let me show my card first thing first:
Supplies: DS4J digi image, Copic Sketch, watercolors, Alpha gesso & modeling paste, Kasiercarft stamps, Stickles, VersaFine ink pads, tissue serviette, drywall tape, gem and sentiment from Ginger's House

Digistamps4Joy is running a sketch challenge hosted by Tonnie. It's a great sketch to play with! It looks versatile and you can use this sketch along with your inspiration to make any paper craft projects and upload your creation(s) to DS4J by April 30.
I am happy to share my tutorial now so please have a mug of coffee or hot choc by your side because this is a very long post {smile}.
A piece of watercolor paper is gesso-ed after I attached some drywall tape.
Then I adhered a ply of white serviette using gesso. I like to use serviette for texture.
I also cut a string of drywall tape into pieces and applied gesso for more texture.
A quick drying method when patience is not with me {what about you?}.
The fun part! For this project I wanted to finish off my girl's watercolors before I get her {and me} new sets soon. Sharing is caring!
Next, I splatter paints then spritz water and let them play around...
until I get that above, erm, not my liking so I splatter more paints, spritz water and the process continue...
until I gain satisfaction with the above result...so far!
A stencil and texture paste were used to create patterns and dry with heat gun from time to time.
At this point, I was okay with the background and ready to proceed with the card.
I turn over the newly background patterned paper to cut into nine pieces to match the sketch.
So those are access to k.i.v for next art journal project coming soon!
Quite pleased after this assembly {lol}.

To add interest and depth, I stamped the pieces randomly...
...and distress the edges with ink pads. Remember how my card foundation was set in purple just now? I didn't think the color match the background therefore I measured a white cardstock to make it as the top layer and assemble the card to my heart content {smile}.
Here's the card once again and some up-close photos:
This card is flying into these challenges:
1. Artistic Inspirations : Anything Goes with a twist of Spring
2. Crafting From The Heart : Always Anything Goes
3. Craft Cardmakers : Wings
4. MarkerPOP : Anything Goes
5. Stamp and Create : Anything Goes
6. The Paper Nest Dolls : Anything Goes

Thank you for visiting me today and wishing you good days always.
Hugs and smiles,
