Birthday Card ~ Another Year Older

Hi everyone! Pretty soon we will close the chapters of April life and welcome May with wonders I'm sure. I am already looking forward to dedicating my art work through out May as my plans for April where gardening matters have been at least eighty per cent fulfilled.
It's an on-going process thus I don't expect to get all done and dusted {chuckle}.

You may have noticed my silence from blog land the past week. I've been concentrating on spring cleaning the children's rooms. Other than that I've been focusing on commission projects as well. This stepper card is one of them:
My client wanted a masculine card. A clean and simple artsy and not jam packed with over crowded elements. A gear and thread for the focal point swimming across textured and watercolors background would be ideal for a guy I think. What say you?
Nevertheless she loves this card so much and I feel so happy to make someone's day cheery.

Trying my luck at this challenge:

Until I see you again soon. Enjoy yourself with positive mind.

ARTplorations Stencil Blog Hop April 13-15

Hi there!
Thank you for dropping by and joining in to see some fabulous work by STAMPlorations girls using wonderful ARTplorations stencils.

The Hop runs on April 13, 14 & 15th, hop along leaving some comment love at each stop for a chance to win. All the rules and details and Hop list are HERE at STAMPlorations! Commenting closes on April 17th and the winners will be announced on April 19th.

I created an art journal spread that I hope you will like and will get some inspirations.
Some up-close photos:

I used Merry Go Round ARTplorations stencil to create the flowery design using modeling paste. The butterfly is cut into half after I stamped Trendy Butterflies on white drawing paper and fussy cut.

Paper scraps adhered for dimension and interest, gesso-ed the pages and let dry before I spritz water and let watercolors run all over the pages under my control {smile}.
I used a part of a local ever green song lyric as sentiment.
Enjoy your hop and have a great day getting inspirations by looking at the gorgeous projects from all the STAMPlorations teamies!

Escape Without Fear @ STAMPlorations

{My DT work for STAMPlorations}

Hi everyone! Wish your life lots of happiness and prosperity. Sharing with you today is a layout on an absolutely heavy duty concrete designer paper I've never used before and wanted to challenge myself creating a page on this absolutely gorgeous stones!

I snap a pic of my little girl at the famous historical site in my hometown Melaka last March 16. This building is a remain of St.Paul's Church. We walked up the hill with great views of the city to get to the church which is a beautiful old stone building constructed by the Portuguese in 1521. It was used as a fortress, a weapons storage and a burial ground. You can even still see the tombstones along what's left of the walls of the church.
I love this real looking stones from Kaisercraft Base Coat collection.
Some close-up pictures:
I made the swirl roses from a piece of 6x6 Kaisercraft paper pad cut into four pieces. The leaves are punched from white drawing paper, distressed and colored randomly. I used patchwork frenzy graphic pentagons STAMPlorations stamps to make some designs.
I used square links  ARTplorations stencil to create texture on the surface. The butterflies from STAMPlorations are stamped and fussy cut.
I stamped alpha letters to spell escape and without fear from STAMPlorations for the title.
An inspiration gain from Mixed Media Warriors mood board. I used earth colors to make this page vintage as in the 16th century based on the photo of the historical building and used three elements ~ flowers, clocks and butterflies from the mood board.
The 'escape' and mood photo challenge at More Than Words caught my eyes while I was thinking for title. I imagine life during colonization era was very tough and did wonder how the people lived in the past. I believe in many aspects of living they had to escape without fear to keep moving. The historical sights in Melaka are reminder for Malaysians to live in unity and respect despite one's differences in religions and cultures.

Sharing some of our holiday photos at St. Paul's Church in Melaka Historical City.
The view from hill.
My husband and our three girls.
My son standing at the right wing.
Walking up the hill to reach to the church..Still standing strong...looks awesome! The siblings enjoying the surrounding and happy to be in their birth land.
My little girl taking a rest after plights of stairs up the hill! I love that trees!Last but not least, you have one month long to play along at STAMPlorations April Mixed Media Challenge. I look forward to see your makes with stencils and no cards please.
That's it for today. Until then. I see you soon.

Beautiful Moment @ Scrap Africa

{My DT work for Scrap Africa}

Hi! My latest scrapbook page is here designed as part of my dt work for Scrap Africa fortnight challenge.

This page used mainly paper scraps and just anything beyond my reach in the craft trolley. It's always by my side every time I craft and when the project is completed, the trolley rides away. Nah, I place it back in the room by the corner {smile}.

This page is designed based on this sketch by Denise:

Lovely isn't it? Here are some up-close pictures:
I love bulky layers...the more the merrier is my saying {chuckle}. The sentiment is from Kaisercraft 6 1/2" Blue Bay Paper Pad.
The metal butterfly is a gift for winning a challenge some two years ago and only now I use it {hoarding perhaps, lol}. Lots of drywall tape and gauze used for texture after adhering paper scraps beneath them.
I also cut out some old laces and glue down for texture and interest. When all done, I started gesso-ing and applied modeling paste through Kaisercraft Flora Quarter stencil.
Then I added sequins, seed beads, gems, broken brooge {underneath layered photo}, cut out flowers from lace, punched white cardstock to make some blooms and leaves. I used PVA glue to glue down all the elements. They take a longer period to dry and the metals stick so well which I love.
I touch up my page with water colors and when dry, I stamped randomly to highlight certain areas. That'show it's done ~ all from scraps.
The colors chosen are inspired from a inspiration board #8 at FLEUR design Blog:
I also get inspiration from Mixed Media World ~ Vintage challenge:
Earth colors and vintage style are really my cup of coffee in paper creations. What do you guys think?
That's it for today. I am glad you stop by to visit me today and for that I say thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Hugs and smiles,
