Spring Fling Day 17 @ STAMPlorations

Okay this is a big shout to remind our superb STAMPlorations fans and crafters that you have two days left for this giveaway hop & comment on all 12 posts or play along if you haven't already.

Visit all participating designers' blogs from April 1 to 12 and leave them some love.
Sherry Russ offers 12 prizes to the lucky ones. Could it be you?
That's not all however...Day 17 has extra prizes too...
I created a set of mixed media artwork for my artist trading cards. These pieces were pretty easy to create using just a few supplies and I could not be more happy with how they turned out. I adore the combination of softness and grunge all in one place. The surface only holds brush stroke texture and I only used gesso to achieve it.
Some up close shots:
I stamped a butterfly and a bird directly on the watercolor + gesso background after its completely dried.
As you can see I only play with gesso, watercolors and stamping plus a little bit of coloring on the leaves. I sprinkle white watercolor paint lightly here and there for extra dimension. Lastly I doodle a bit here and there with black gel pen for signature style as proof of my work {chuckle}. Spot the doodle below the stem in the photo below?
This was inspired by my love for nature photography which I had a couple months ago. It's really hard to capture wings animals, they refuse to sit still and to make it work I use sport function on my dslr camera. I hope some day I will get the longer lens to shoot more fascinating movement from afar.
It was windy so I did my best adjusting the camera while standing on the ladder.
The young birdie looked at me in wonder probably telling himself how crazy this lady was taking the risk for numbers of shots but just one seems okay {teeheehee}.
That's it for today. I hope you find some inspirations from my artwork. No extravaganza products used just combination of gesso for texture, watercolor paints, black gel pen and ink pad and last but not least the wonderful stamp products from STAMPlorations shop.

This is the extra fun you get for dropping by my blog right now. Yes we mentioned 12 prizes in 12 days but extra prizes is unbelievable {smile}.

Spring Fling Day 9 @ STAMPlorations

Hi lovely friends! Welcome to STAMPlorations ~ Spring Fling Giveaway Day 9.
Through my binocular I can see you all have been happily hopping from Day 1 up to today; but to some who haven't already, steal the time a little bit and hop to win. There are awesome prize waiting every single day for twelve days. Yes you read exactly correct.
Join us today and be sure to visit all participating designers on this day and leave them some love. Today's prize could be yours.
Today I'd like to share with you my brand new inspiration - a pair of mixed media ATCs. If you are my regular visitor, you are surely aware of my likeness to cut images into separation. Well this time I cut a piece of die cut frame into two pieces and stick on white card stock with gesso.
I used Bloomtangled #1 Cover Plate Die for this project. Then I carefully get rid the access from the fragile die cut piece with a pin and cut into two parts before they're glue down with light gesso.
I gave them some Deco Art colors using aqua brush and paint the flowers gradually. As I filled up the blooms with red, it took me back to my internship days as Broadcast Journalist for the local private TV station doing a television program at Karyaneka, an art center in Kuala Lumpur. I was shooting a Batik show and was given the chance to paint batik fabric. That was just the best day ever in my life. This instantly makes me feel like I'm painting batik ATCs {grin}.
I always find my project without black seems unfinished to me so I stamped half butterfly on each card and stamped the edges with artsy border maker for little decoration using Versafine black ink pad. Lastly I adorn my ATCs with sentiment stickers.

The cover plate die is priced at $25 but you can get instant 25% off in the Spring Fling April Sale. Meanwhile the stamps are priced at $15 and $7 respectively but my coupon code STAMPGIRLASMAH can give you 20% off at check out. Great deal huh!
Hey check this out...today's Day 9 comment by you on my post here and participating designers could stand a chance of winning your own choice of cool dies at $30 value.

All About Recycling ~ TAGplorations @ STAMPlorations

Hello crafty friends! I hope you had a wonderful weekend. I had a blast with my two girls at home all Saturday doing nothing much but serving the internet, cooking, eating and chatting away. My biggest intention that morning was to finish off sewing the kitchen curtains but instead I got the girls to declutter their wardrobe and I took a while sorting fabrics I hoarded bought few years ago; the ones I planned to make into pillow cases and cushion covers but never get around to do so. Let see when the time comes!

Right! Here's bringing you my new tag for
STAMPlorations ~ April TAGplorations challenge.
The theme is All About Recycling and the optional twist is tissue paper.
I accumulated plenty of cardboard backings from packages over the years and they always come handy in my projects. I always tell myself that papers are expensive so I shouldn't throw them just like that!
To create this quick and easy tag, I used three variant sizes of dies from Tags #1 Nesting Dies and the smallest size bracket from Bracket Labels/Tags Nesting Dies to cut into some pieces and combined them altogether. Then I attached butterfly foam sticker and sentiment to complete a really clean and simple design.
If you wish to own the dies I used, my coupon code will give you 20% discount for your purchase at STAMPlorations shop.

Taking my tag into these challenges:
1. Crafting By Designs : Anything Goes
2. The Sisterhood of Crafters : Celebrate Spring
3. Watercooler Wednesday : Feminine "Anything Goes"
4. The Crafty Addicts : Ch#59 Anything Goes/Optional theme in the pink
5. Crafty Gals Corner : Ch#188 Spring Is Here
6. Ellibelle's Corner : Wings, Tails or Spring Blossoms

That's it for today. I look forward to see you at Mr. Linky by the end of this month.
Happy creating.
Hugs and smiles,

Life Is A Journey {Mixed Media Tutorial} @ STAMPlorations

Hi everyone! I am back once again after a long sleep silence. March is definitely a busy month for me and this week I can finally breath normal after too many gasps the past three weeks.

There were sports days at my girls' schools to support and cheer on followed by exam week for me to assist my girls with their revisions. We also have guests two weeks ago and you bet I was busy cooking for my nephew and his family. Then my eldest daughter came home for a week break enable me to stay put from driving her sisters to school. They're always super thrill when their big sister is home. She return to campus yesterday morning. Then my son decided to pursue his love and interest in automobile world so he enrolled for a course in it and started yesterday.
Now that my two grown ups have quite settled down and my two school kids are enjoying their one week school break, I started declutter my craft stuff yesterday and wardrobe next.
Oh yes, this evening we will celebrate my husband's birthday. Nothing fancy just a simple menu after he gets back from work. We have already celebrated his birthday earlier on at Pizza Hut while our eldest daughter was home. That was great moment indeed.

Enough blab! Let me now drive you to my new art journal page.
You can find the step by step tutorial and more details at STAMPlorations blog.
This was done in the shopping-paper-bag mini album and there're a few more pages to fill up. Once completed I will show all pages in one blog post.

As for this page, if you look closely, you may find a heart shape somewhere in the page. It's unintentional. Can you spot it? Let me know in the comment below {smile}.

Here's to share with you a piece of great news coming soon!
You are invited to join our Spring Fling Giveaway this April. Simply by spreading the word about this event, you could be one of three winners of a $10 gift certificate to the STAMPlorations store.

All About Spring ~ TAGplorations @ STAMPlorations

Hi crafters and friends! How are you all doing today? I'm good. On this day, we at STAMPlorations brings you a fresh new TAGplorations March Challenge for tag lovers especially. You can create your own tag, use die cut tag from any brands you have or use thin metal dies from CUTplorations to make your project/s with tag/s. The choice is yours. So let's bring out your creativity.

Here's my tag with hope to inspire you and that I hope you like it:
I used Stitched Tags Nesting Dies from CUTplorations available at the shop for this creation.
This project used plenty of masking in the making and that was really fun because I haven't done masking for so long. The flowers and butterflies are from Big Bloom Factory and Blossom Like A Butterfly stamp sets. I stamped down three sentiments from Its A Girl Thing Kindness stamp set.
For the first time I used combination colors that's out of my comfort zone.
I need to know your thoughts on it so please leave your comment below.
I would love to know if they look spring enough {smile}.
Do display the graphic above in your blog post to be eligible in the votes.
And STAMPGIRLASMAH will give you 20% off on your purchase.
Until the morning after. See you when I see you.
Hugs and smiles,
