Birthday Wishes

In a few minutes I'm taking my big girl to her friend's birthday party and when I come back I am going to continue scrapping until it is time to pick her up in the evening. I am having the best days of my life this long weekend as I have planned to just scrap! I managed to make a quick card this morning before I hit the stove to cook for lunch...life is bliss! I didn't want 'Alyaa to attend the party with just a present without a card so I grab my stuff and make one. Here it is:

This card follows no sketch...basically it's just artwork and that I would like to partake in iClassy Girl   Anything Goes Paint challenge.

...some close-ups...

Materials used: Kaisercraft sentiment {stamp}, digi sentiment from Ginger's House, Tim Holtz distress ink, Tattered Angel mist, watercolor, acid free drawing block, cardstock, buttons and ribbon

Thank you for dropping by today...always thrill to have your visit!
Hugs!

Little Lady ~ 4 years old Today

Today Let's Scrap features its new weekly sketch and this time the sketch is designed by SCRAPBOOK generation. I decided to stay true to the sketch so here's my example layout:

This is my littlest girl Afza on her birthday {August 17}! She turns 4...weeee, time flies so fast! There are times I wish she remains a baby :) She loves posing for photos and always eager to see at herself on the camera lcd after each take. To be honest, I nearly forgot her birthday on the 17th! I was engrossed sewing our traditional outfits when suddenly it triggers my mind of her special day! It was fasting day in Ramadan and so I thought a cake and celebration were not necessary and felt we would celebrate her with her grandma and my family members on Eid Mubarak a couple days later. She agreed...phew! Thus, to mark her special day, I asked her to give me some poses until she gets fed-up and continue watching Spongebob Squarepants...duhhh.

Here's the sketch:
Some close-ups:
I like the design on the first page of the sketch and this is the way I interprate the sketch. I did four paper foldings and adhered alpha chippies of her second name in the center.
This is my how-to fold the papers:
I use 15x15cm square of patterned paper...
...and fold into half...
...open up and start folding four corners to the center point...
...flip over and repeat folding as above...
...flip the above again and fold just the same like before...

....last step is folding all the triangle points outward and
you will get exactly like this picture below...
{sorry I forgot to snap the last step picture; I'm getting old, hee...
anyway I'm sure you can figure it out...smile}
...ta-da...simple fold makes attractive paper embellishment.

Afza says HELLO to all of you :) She wasn't happy when I redo her photos at Picasa (she didn't like them in b&w so I added bits of color to the smaller photos; eventually she said "ok"...pretty fussy and head strong kid...where did she gets the trait from I wonder...answer: FROM ME. lol).
I will be posting Afza's birthday party layout one fine day so stay tune :)

Thank you for visiting me today and I appreciate your time!
Hugs!

From Me With Lots of Love...

Today is my turn as Let's Scrap  Design Team member to come out with something for a tutorial. I know I have a few ideas but this week is seeing me engrossed in sewing dresses for my girls and myself to wear on the first day of Eid Mubarak...ah, that falls on Sunday the 19th! The idea just come by while I was cutting fabric adhesive paper to apply on the fabric I was cutting. I realised that it's much easier to cut any fabrics after it is adhered with the iron-on fabric adhesive paper.
At the same time, my big girl 'Alyaa took the scrap and make her a puffy heart! I'm so proud of her creativity and yep, lifted her idea after she suggested I do it as tutorial...thanks honey!
Here's my card:

As always, this card is made based upon a sketch by DebbyD:
I feel so happy to share my tutorial with you!

Next is a puffy heart card. My girls think the heart is so pretty, lol.
And the sketch is also by DebbyD"
Cute eh! Now let's move on to the tutorial...you will love it :)
...more close-ups...

Lastly, in my last post I mentioned about fabric hexagons...here is the tutorial:

I hope I didn't bore you with my lengthy post :) Anyway, I hope you will try out my tutorials and hopefully both my cards and how-to have given you some inspirations.

Oh, before I sign off, I almost forgot that my little Afza turns 4 today! I only realised today is the 17th at almosr 4pm when I suddenly remember her birthday! We have decided to celebrate her birthday with her grandma in Melaka on Sunday...she's so excited! As there's no celebration thus to mark her birthday, I took some snap shots of her until she gets bored, heehee. Here she is posting for me {for my upcoming scrappy project}:
Afza today...4 years old...big girl yet she will always be my baby!

Thank you for dropping by today...thanks again!

Wish Inspire Love

This week at Let's Scrap we are running a new weekly challenge and the hit is on again ~ hexagon! If you are a big fan of hexagon or would like to try your hands on them, come join us and you may stand a chance to win some washi tapes! Here's my take on the sketch:
I have made an easel card and...well the picture down below looks better though. Anyway, here's the sketch by Let's Scrap Administrator Debby...
...some close-ups...
I have used cotton fabric with batik design for the hexagons. A tutorial on how to avoid frays after cutting the fabric will be featured on my next post so stay tune!
I hand cut the hexagons from a template.
I love the sentiment which is a freebie and uploaded from TLC. Hop over to TLC for more great sentiments.
I'm sure you too love the sentiment so just right-click and save to your computer :)

Unique Beauty

Happy August! Time flies oh yes! Couple days ago I mentioned about Let's Scrap new Design Team commencing today for the next four months. I am happy to be given the honor to continue being a member in the creative team. That means I will be busy...as always, lol. I am so excited to working along with the new eight girls in the team and eight veterans including me :)

Here's my DT Call winning layout.
I took a moment deciding on the right photos for the sketch. Once again I can't resist the floral beauty captured by my German friend Christiane Hansel. She loves photography and has taken many beautiful photographs. As far as I remember she has sent me almost hundred photos for my scrapbooking purpose said her. I love the close-ups of each flowers taken at her home.

...DT Call sketch cum this week weekly sketch at Let's Scrap...
Materials used: cardstock, acid free drawing block, Kaisercraft ink pad, Carla Craft fancy scissor and punches, MS border punch, Copic Markers, Kodomo stamp, Staz-on ink pad, food coloring, spray paint

Basically I use drawing block papers for matting and flower making...saving patterned papers for next project :)
I blended the punched flowers with Copic.
Here's the spray paint I used:
...and stamp it up with flower images...
I like the sentiment; in other word I use blank papers to plant a flowery layout :)
I like this border punch...love it!
Lots of ink it up to death...heehee...
Can't resist typo fonts...always rely on my printer for titles :)
I came out with handmade flowers once again...I just love to play with food colors these days! It was pretty messy in the kitchen but I have the little kid in me having so much fun watching the paper patels absorb the purple and red colors...you may want to try it out too...
Here's my tutorial:
And have fun coloring!
We at Let's Scrap always welcome new members so if you are looking for international friendly scrappers, skteches, tutorials, inspirations and a place to hang out...join us today!
Thank you for visiting today!
Hugs!
