Hi everyone! Today the sun is shining brightly down on me and that makes me happy because on this day I am sharing my newest layout with you all. Thank you for dropping by once again {{{hugs to all}}}. I was delighted when Denise van Deventer asked me to guest design for Scrap Africa once again soon after my Top Hat win in the previous challenges {{{thank you my friend}}}.
My daughter number two had been wanting me to scrap her this time ever since the day somewhere in January she spent counting the number of layouts I have made over the years. Her little sister's pages outnumber the rest and she said, "Not fair!" LOL!! So I set myself to the entire day looking for her best shot in my external hard disk. They all some look good showing off her dimples and in many shots she always looks funny and playful. She's a jovial person; that's why! Finally I found some that she likes even though one has to zoom in to look at her in this photograph (smile).
Here's the layout:
Here's the layout:
Supplies: Kaisercraft patterned paper, Versafine black ink pad, Martha Stewart border punch, Carla Craft punch, Alpha acrylic gesso and modeling paste, alphabet rubber stamp, drywall tape, grey pearls, mask, watercolors, black gel pen, bubble wrap for stamping & kitchen rubber lay mat for stamping (I just love these anything goes to let loose =)
The photograph just suits the colors in the mood board that was given to me weeks ahead to work on for Scrap Africa Mood Board Challenge #47. Okay, I have to admit I am not a big fan of just yellow but I love the mixture of softness in these colors below with yellow as the focal point. The Suria KLCC building underneath the Kuala Lumpur Twin Tower matches the shades of cream in the mood board. I made sure the blue sky is alright too after taking a zoom close-up of the model's eyes. The choice of patterned papers match the stairs and the greyish background in the mood board. All in all, yes I was happy with the way my layout turns out and I was very glad Denise loves it!
I needed a sketch to work it out as always so I've chosen a beautiful sketch from C'est Magnifique. I love messy sketch because I can splatter paints and just whatever I have beyond reach. It's always anything goes when I scrap a mixed media page.
Here are some close-up photos:
You learn it from the very start just how hard you must try
'Coz if you don't spread your wings then you can't fly
Look at where you are today
Did you ever think that you would come all this way?
(And) now you're
"Standing In The Eyes Of The World"
Only moments away from what can be
There's a passion in the hearts of a few
Ever waiting inside to be set free
When the time comes and your spirit
Takes flight and you reach into
Your soul and live it with all of your might
And there's no surprise that you're
(And everyone tries when you're)
"Standing In The Eyes Of The World"
The blooms and leaves are punched and assemble altogether to create clusters.
I can't do without splatter of paints, one way to release stress or anger (smile).
The title Standing In The Eyes Of The World is taken from one of the theme songs of the 16th Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur (1998) and sung by Malaysian top singer Ella. Since the games ended, the song has become one of the patriotic songs in schools and public events for motivation purpose. This song always reminded my participation in the 16th Commonwealth Games while I was attached to the National TV (RTM) as the official host broadcaster. My job as Producer was to assist the cricket tournaments and ensure the foreign television newscasters get the daily reports before and after each game. I vividly remember the event on my birthday (September 9) where I received well wishes from many people on the field just because my ex-colleague was nosey, hehe.
The song has a lot of memories for me and sometimes when I watch this you tube video, I never forget the day we did live telecast of the official song in front of our ex-Prime Minister Dr. Mahathir Mohamad prior to the games as well as watching the opening ceremony.
It was awesome.
Anis loves the song so much that I decided to use it's title on her layout and wrote a journal for her and let her know that I only want her to do her very best without giving her much pressure and if she can reach the top of the pinnacle in her undertakings, that is just so rewarding for me as a mother.

Standing In The Eyes Of The World (English Version)
Looking back all the years, all the sacrifice
If you want to be the best you've got to pay the priceYou learn it from the very start just how hard you must try
'Coz if you don't spread your wings then you can't fly
Look at where you are today
Did you ever think that you would come all this way?
(And) now you're
"Standing In The Eyes Of The World"
Only moments away from what can be
There's a passion in the hearts of a few
Ever waiting inside to be set free
When the time comes and your spirit
Takes flight and you reach into
Your soul and live it with all of your might
And there's no surprise that you're
(And everyone tries when you're)
"Standing In The Eyes Of The World"
Many have hopes and dreams that will not come true
And all of them left behind now they will live in you
Everyone feels the same once a day in the sun
But sometimes there is only room for one
Never ever been so near now the chance is finally here
Until the morning after, see you with my next layout.
Have a good day.
Hugs and smiles,
Everyone feels the same once a day in the sun
But sometimes there is only room for one
Never ever been so near now the chance is finally here
Until the morning after, see you with my next layout.
Have a good day.
Hugs and smiles,
Beautiful layout and congrats for being the Guest Designer - great job as always!!!
ReplyDeleteA stunningly creative take on the mood board Asmah. I just adore the little curve of embellishments that looks like mosaic tiles.
