Mixed Media Art Journal @ DS4J

{My DT work for DS4J}

Hello friends! How is it going on your end? I just started to feel under the weather yesterday. It was starting to rain as I brought in a whole lot of laundry. Rain water is just not good on me. This minute as I type this I have slight fever and sore throat. I must not mention the body aches too, sighh. My husband told me he will buy take away lunch and dinner so I don't have to cook and just rest. I love my man so much!

Enough rant. Okay, let me take you to Digistamps4Joy right now. New images are released today here. They are stunning images drawn by Margy and Jen Lee. The design team created fabulous creations with hope to give you ideas on how to use the digi images in your creations.
I made an art journal using six pointsettia digi image which I printed and fussy cut.
I was highlighting the flowers by adding some black watercolors near them but wasn't aware they absorb the colors and ruin the flowers in a way.
Can you see that the black invaded the leaves? {{{Aarrgghh}}} I think, think and think how to fix it or should I print another pointsettia, fussy cut and glue down making it 3D?!
But I was lazy to do printing job again because it was done the day before and the printer was put back to its place. Are you like me sometimes, you know just feeling lazy at certain period or is it just me? Lol.
So, as you have maybe figured it out, I came with doodling idea using black gel pen and that itself highlights the flowers even more. I had so much fun doodling and scribbling away.
I love the success sentiment by Pablo Picasso which I am always diligent to find on internet, type it and print it. I love to have wise wisdom quotes a lot in some creations.
Doing the background was an interesting process. I love texture and to start with, I used a ply from napkin paper to paste on the pages using pva glue. Then I brushed off the napkin paper with homemade clear gesso and blow dry with heat gun. Next I highlighted some spots with white gesso. For additional texture, I cut lace fabric into small pieces and adhere on the journal.
The background was colored and splattered with watercolors.
When I was satisfied with the background, I focus on flowers composition. I kept changing them from one place to another to please my eyes.
Well what do you think of my flowers placement?
Three more close-up shots:
I sincerely hope you have enjoyed my lengthy post today and may you get a bit of inspirations to doodle in your art journal if you like that.

Dream Come True @ Digistamps4Joy

{My DT work for DS4J}

Hi everyone! Wish you all well, happy and healthy. So am I as I was able to weeding underneath my lovely yuca tree yesterday and continued a little bit more later before the sun started heating up. I am very much into gardening mood since last week now that the rain has stop falling allowing us sun ray and not to mention windy and dry season!

Enough chit-a chat. So it's that time again for a mid-challenge reminder at Digistamps4Joy February ChallengeThe theme as always is Anything Goes with optional Red for Valentine's Day. However I don't celebrate this day. Nevertheless I added red to blend with black and white on my mixed media card. Red is my favorite color I can't resist for this challenge but if you notice in many projects I did in the past, I hardly use red.
I  have no idea why {smile}.
For this project, I have used Fuschia digital image. Click here for this beauty.
I stamped leaves above the fuschia to make it more interesting and lively. I used Faber Castell watercolor pencils to color the fuschia.
 I added some punch leaves tucked underneath each other so the punched flowers can smile to accompany the beautiful fuschia. Besides hydrangeas, roses and orchids, I also love fuschias but unfortunately my climate is not suitable to grow them in my garden.
 The background was the first process to do whereby I cut strips of papers and adhere them randomly to create texture. I laid down pieces of drywall tape randomly as well. Then the piece was gesso-ed and blow dry with heat gun. Next process was applying texture paste through a stencil.
 I can't recall where the sentiment is from because I printed it long ago and never use until now so it does come handy and ready to use. I like!
 I used watercolors to paint the background by spritzing water to let it run all over the place but with control for sure {chuckle}.
 So there you have it. I hope I am able to inspire you today. The monthly challenge ends this 28th day so get your creation/s into the challenge link sooner.

Lat but not least, I'm playing along in these challenge:
1. Crafty Sentiments : Your Favorite Combo

Guest Designer @ Cupcake Inspirations

Hello everyone! I am so excited to share with you today a shabby chic card I made for STAMPlorations as a Guest Designer for Cupcake Inspirations.

Shery Russ the owner of STAMPlorations is sponsoring Cupcake Inspirations Challenge. Therefore some of the design team members have produced wonderful creations to showcase Shery's products.

I created a shabby chic card with a cup cake as the focal point.
A cupcake is provided to inspire you to create a card or other craft project following Cupcake Inspirations suggested theme or colors.
This is the following colors for challenge #394:
So I came out with this card following the colors and added cup cake in the center.
I used watercolor pencils to color the stamped cup cake.
The cup cake stamp is one from many Party Mates stamp set available here.
I hope you find my card inspiring and don't wait any longer to create before Mr. Linky shuts its door at Cupcake Inspirations.

And I wish to play along at these challenges:
1. Paper Play Sketches : Challenge #34

Enjoy your day and happy creating.

Blessing from God @ MHKDesigns

{My DT work for MHKDesigns}

Hi everyone! I have been somewhat busy the past days entertaining my four blessings. Every time they gather at home, I am always busy and happy at the same time. I totally lost count the day and date even time. As a result I forgot to publish this post on time. My sincere apology!
Today I bring you a card using a image from MHKDesigns that you can get here.
I just love the drawing of these pretty rabbits and decided not to color them up.
I also end up doing a masculine style for a change.

I hope you will visit MHKDesigns for more awesomeness.
Have a good day.

I did art journal in my envelop mini album. This album consist of twenty pages of white envelops bind together with PVA glue I made last month. I can hardly wait to finish up each pages with different art journal ideas This is the first appearance I would love to share with you using STAMPlorations stencils and stamps that you can get herehere and here.
A few close-up pics:
I started my work by gluing down patterned papers and some paper scraps neatly cut into strips. Next I wash off the surface with homemade clear gesso.
I chose two different stencils and used texture paste through them for designs.

The feathers in the mood board stole my heart to create my art journal as well as the attractive colors:

Glory Tags @ MHKDesigns

{My DT work for MHKDesigns}

Hello sweet friends! How is life on your end? I've been enjoying nine days school break with my children and we prefer staying home than going places. The closest we go to are the market and mall for grocery shopping. Hanging out at the book store is a must on school break. Two manga comics happily come home with us fill up the oldest girl's manga collection.

My oldest daughter who loves manga and draws anime has returned to hostel last Sunday though. My middle girl went back to hers yesterday. My nest is now a little quieter with just myself, my other half, my son and my youngest. It's back to routine today now that school has reopen after Chinese New Year celebration. Nevertheless we are looking forward to this Wednesday when the two girls return home from boarding schools once again for another four days break until Saturday in conjunction to Thaipusam celebration. Oh yes, that's the beauty of living in Malaysia a multi racial country with various celebrations thus heaps of public holidays.

Enough blab! So, here's to share new MHKDesigns digital stamps release this month. There are five new awesomazing digital stamps in the shop. Today we bring you Glory Of The Lord stamp set at MHKDesigns blog. Don't they look great?
 I printed two different sizes and fussy cut the flowers and leaves.
 The background was gesso-ed at first. Then I used stencil to create flowery pattern using texture paste before I started playing with watercolors.
 When the texture paste has dried, I adhered the digital flowers and sentiment giving them life with watercolor paints.
I sincerely hope my tags give you some inspirations to play with a little bit of mixed media in your project. Perhaps you would be interested to join in our Inspirational Challenge this month.
That's it for today. Thank you for dropping by and take care.
Hugs and smiles,
