You Shine My Life

Hello there! I spent several hours making my first layout for this year after warming up with three cards previously, lol. It didn't finish in one sitting because my crafty tools and materials are somewhat sporadic at the moment. I don't have a craft room so to speak thus I do my projects on the dining table and that is not fun at all because obviously I have to clear the table for meal time, duh. Pretty soon I will revamp my son's room and he lets me share a little corner in his room so I can craft smoother. Erm, except I have to agree with his choice of color we will paint together next month. His color:- something like orange! We'll see.
Without further ado, here's my layout made base on Kaisercraft Blog third week sketch this month. I love Kaisercraft collections and products especially its patterned papers and wooden flourishes.
My weakness is I tend to save than use but however this year I decided to use up everything I've been hoarding over the years; hence the use of those lovely Bonjour butterflies stickers on this layout...

The sketch:
Materials used:
Kaisercraft: Bonjour collection patterned paper, English Rose collection rub ons, ink pad, red flowers and clear stamps Fancy Flourishes
Others: Bazill cardstock, Martha Stewart acrylic craft paint, ek success punch, Cosmo Cricket Tiny Type alpha stickers, Tim Holtz distress ink, Prima Say It In Crystals self-adhesive embellishment, eyelets, ribbon and others from my stash
I can't avoid stitching :)
Credit goes to my sister Lili Sulastri for the alpha die cuts...what good is a sister for :)

I usually used ribbons for flower making and embroidery and here's my twisted lacing on paper.
This is one of my favorite thing to do: tearing!
My little 'grown-up' girl waiting for her Oreo choc fudge at a fast-food restaurant and always ready for Mommy's camera but I didn't adjust the lighting hence the yellowish cheeks, lol.

Well, I'm glad you stop by. Wishing you a great time...always.
Hugs and smiles,

Never Regret

Hi to all Crafty Girls =) Hope everyone is feeling good and happy. So am I.
Today's make is a collaboration between mother and daughter. You see, yesterday my eldest daughter saw me coloring a Bestie image and that tempted her crafty juices flowing so 'Alyaa asked for one image to color herself. She chose one and at first I thought she was going to borrow my Copic but nope; she used her Swans Stabilo color pencils instead; brought out her small lap table to the patio and sat quietly under the shades coloring this image...

She really impressed me with her shadings and pretty color combination. I like the sentiment which I uploaded from facebook.
Materials used: digi image by Sherri Baldy Designs, Swan Stabilo color pencils, quote from Facebook, others from my stash

Hi my crafty friends! The weather is just so nice from morning until this moment and so I decided to finish off my housework quickly so I can focus on making a center step card followed by gardening afterwards. It's a long weekend on my end and I try to fulfill as many tasks and plans as possible.
Today's feature is a sweet Bestie image by Sherri Baldy. My girls love her so much and they think I do great with my coloring this time, lol. I have chosen different shades of red because it's my favorite color and it was so much fun blending these colors in my cheerful mood especially when it comes to Bestie! She is such a doll. Sherri has recently announced a second challenge in Besties Challenge BlogYou will have from Jan 21-Jan 27th to complete a project using a Bestie. Anything Goes. Thank You

Hello everyone! This is my first card for this year, phew, finally I have settled down after a long break to get back to my crafty table. I really have to massage my 'steel' fingers to soften them before I can give it a shot, lol. Today I would love to share a card I made using Sherri Baldy's Bestie image. I think she's so cute! I have used Copic Sketch to shine her out but however I have to admit that it's been many moons since I last use Copic so I mistakenly picked wrong shades of brown for her hair, oooppsssss.

Erm, please forgive me for the 'messy colored' hair ;)
Other than that, I just adore her. Thank you Sherri for this awesome image.

I would like her to enter these challenges:
1. Besties Challenge - Challenge #1
2. CDAC - Anything Goes

Thank you for your time visiting me today. Have a nice day.

Orchid Lover

Hi my blogger friends :) It's been a while now and here I am making a come back after the year end holidays with my dear Mother. Only God knows how I feel being home spending the incredible moments with her and to be back where I am without the person who brought me into this world is heartbreaking. I wish I could stay there with her forever but God has set my path to follow and I left Him a prayer to look upon my Mom while I'm gone fulfilling my commitments. Before my return home last November, I made a layout for my Mom...the one she requested me to do...the subject she loves most ~ her precious orchids! They were blooming when my sister Lili was with her taking shots of her catalyas and other species. Once I got the photographs, I didn't scrap right away, not until I found the perfect sketch to fit them in. I knew the sketch by Michelle van Wyk who was one of the winners for Let's Scrap sketch contest way back in October last year was perfect for my layout and this was my finale cum farewell layout sample as one of Let's Scrap Design Team member for last term which ended on November 30, 2012.

The winning sketch:

Some close-ups:
I added the bird cages to remember my father who used to have a huge collection of similar bird cages hung all over Mom's orchid sanctuary. I have also added brown twine {see below} because it simply reminds me of Mom who would use raffia to tie her orchids or Dad who used twine for his carpentary or gardening job.

The initial SKZA is made up by my father which is a symbol of true love between my Mom {Sity Khatijah} & Dad {Zainal Abidin} who went through thick and thin from their wedding day until Dad's final resting.

I just love the effect of stamping and glossy spray on white card stock as well as the lace punch. The title was printed and painstakingly cut out. Watercolor paint finished it off which really pleased me. Of course I can't do without handmade paper rosettes with flowery wooden button in the center.

And here's Mom's most favorite catalya that never fail to outshine the rest in her garden. Its aroma is so soothing...the one Dad loved as well.

The orchids is what kept Mom alive and cheerful. She has grown them for almost 40 years. She knows everything about orchids because they are her babies she loves to care with so much love and passion. I have begun to have this passion for orchids the way Mom does because every time I look at them, I can see Mom's smile :-)

Aaah, enough rambling! It's mid-January now {time sure flies!}. So, after having such gorgeous holidays and superb time with Mom, it's time to hit the scrappy table and get back to business. I shall be back soon with  more! Meanwhile enjoy the upcoming days with happiness and kind heart.
Have a great 2013!
Hugs,
