My middle daughter has asked me twice to make her a layout so eventually I spent an evening looking through old photographs and at the same time enable me to take part in the monochromatic challenge over at Let's Scrap. It's the March Month Long Challenge yet it took me this last minute case to get the layout done. I will have to say that I twisted the sketch to my preference for the photographs because I just couldn't find four exact 5x12.5cm photos, what more 18x13cm photo...oh boy; so after much thoughts, this is what I came out with!
I really treasure this baby photos of Anis when she was about six months old in June 2004. She's a very lovable baby and jovial. Her trademark is of course her sweet deep dimples {smile}. I watched her grow every single moment and I don't even remember her throwing tantrums or not giggling. Until today, she's the one who cracks the silence atmosphere with her silly jokes, very talkative and quite a clown too. All in all, she's a wonderful person someone would like to have for bff!
Here's the sketch by our lovely Elizna Parsons who hosts the challenge.
The challenge rules are: use the sketch, use monochromatic color (the use of only 1 color or different degrees of brightness of the same color), use stash (no new papers and embellishments), use large title, use a stamp and use a handmade embellishment that matches a pattern/item on the layout.
I decided to use only one color - brown! Yes, just brown cardstock and use additional piece of similar color to make my own embellishment simply by stamping some flowers and fussy cut them as well as punched some daisies and leaves.
Materials:
punches - Martha Stewart, Carla Craft
ink - StazOn, Kaiser, Ranger
stamp - Kaiser, Kodomo
The daisy punch has been in my collection for so many years and it has always been my favorite punch over the years. I distress the edges and twist the flowers and leaves with finger to add dimension.
The reason I chose Blossom for the large title...by the way I designed the letters and cut each letters...is because it reflects the growing years from babyhood to childhood thus I adhere cluster of patiently-fussy-cut-flowers for my embellishment. Anis's bonnet has the flowery shape which is why I end up with flower stamping and more flowers that blossom so beautifully {smile}.
I love this! The sentiment is meaningful and hopefully my daughter will always have the confidence in herself, strongly belief in her opinion and will be successful in her life! Part of the reason why I stamped the sentiment underneath the hexagon hole is for her to always be on the look out, reach out and stay firm in her undertakings. I'm thanking Roulien for her awesome tutorial on the corner punch. It takes a lot of patience but worth it!
I remember her giggles when I took these shots. She's really a bundle of joy!

Anis: Wow! Lovely! Erm, brown?
Me: Yes, brown.
Anis: But I like green. I don't like brown!
Me: I planned for cream but I don't have cream cardstock.
Just now upon return from school and looked at her finished layout ~
Anis: Wow! So many flowers!
Me: Nice right!
Anis: But I still don't like brown!
Okay, note taken. Next layout of her will be colorful and bright (chuckle).
Thanks for dropping by today.
Hugs and smiles,
