Going Places @ Scrap Africa "Planes, Trains & Automobiles Mood Board Challenge"

{My DT work for Scrap Africa}

Good day everyone! I'm so excited to share with you my latest work, yes, a layout this time. Scrap Africa has a new moodboard challenge this fortnight and the theme is about Planes, Trains and Automobiles. How fun is that? I decided to make a collage of a little girl playing travelling by train in a fantasy world {smile}.
 Supplies: Bazil cardstock, EnoGreetings patterned papers, Kaisercraft patterned papers+sentiments+doily template, Stamplorations stencil, Alpha gesso & modeling paste, watercolor paints, Micia brown ink pad, drywall tape, buttons and pebbles

This is the mood board:
I am inspired by the black shiny train. I made my own choo-choo train templates from acid free drawing paper. This reminded me of those years at primary school during art class where papers, scissors and glue were main tools.
I adhered scraps of patterned papers to decorate the train. Spread some pebbles for the track. Yes, they are actual pebbles meant for fish tank or water potted plants in vases if you like green sight in your home.

Once again I used pastel colors from Scrap Around The World because I love the color combination in the mood board. As a child I always loved pastel colors especially light pink and blue sky.
I love stamping so much {another childhood love that still lives in me, lol}. I applied watercolor paints on the stamps and randomly stamp the edges.
I don't want to miss entering this project at Berry71bleu that is running a Stamp-It-Up challenge this month. The work by their design team is so fabulous!

As always, I can't do without a sketch! Cest Magnifique has awesome sketch this month and I am also playing along in their sketch challenge. I think I stay true to the sketch.
This was how it all started in the first place. You can see some red marks on the patterned papers, that's right, my little one did some drawings on the blue paper some years ago. I didn't throw it away of course, too precious so I keep it until I the sketch caught my eyes and out came the paper for me to cut into strips and adhered strip by strip on the pink bazil. Then I added some drywall tape and gave a gesso coat.
Here are some zoomed-in shots once more:
 Oh! That greyish buttons are saved from my husband's old coats. I was clearing up the wardrobe and asked my man if he needed the coats anymore. How excited I was when he said no because I sure could recycle the buttons and able to downsize the number of clothes in the house {mind you, we are six people in the house...imagine the laundry I do every day but we are very fortunate to have the washing machine in comparison to our grandmothers and mothers. I only hand wash certain things. I do appreciate every little things I own and that's one reason I don't throw paper scraps because they are rather expensive and can be handy for collage project like this}.
I love making flowers for my embellishment. The mood board by Scrap Around The World has beautiful rosettes. I've done that many times over the years and getting a little bored with that already, lol. Last year I bought three sizes of circle punches and have since made lots of tea bag folded flowers in my spare time. Previously I used circle cutter so frequently that the blades gave up working, teeheehee.
My little one Afza then aged 3 who was standing on the same chair she is sitting on in the photo below. She loves drawing in her book when I took this picture last week. This young lady will turn 7 in August. I think she still has that baby face {smile}. She was overjoyed to see her finished layout that creates jealousy to her big sister {I promise hate to make a promise but I did tell her I would make one fantasy layout of her soon. Now, is that a promise? LOL}. I believe this one will go join the rest at the wall of happiness, lol.
That's it for now. I can't wait to see your creations at Scrap Africa.
Thank you for dropping by and I truly appreciate your time visiting me.
Till then. Have a good day.

Hugs and smiles,
